The other responders answered PART of the problem--but not all.

First, every time you shower the shampoo, body wash, conditioners, residual shower cleaners/disinfectants, etc., all run down on your feet. And since even ONE of them has ingredients that are drying, when you multiply that by the number of products, your feet become dry, dry, dry! So often we don't wash and rinse the feet well afterward, so the drying ingredients are just sitting on the skin.

So--AFTER you shower and shampoo, use a gentle soap (like Dove, Basis) and a wash cloth or exfoliating cloth (good!) to wash your feet separately. Wash well, rinse VERY well, and IMMEDIATELY apply the lotion to your feet to seal in the moisture from the shower. Do this every time you bathe and you will see an almost immediate improvement.

Lotions are made to SEAL IN moisture, but if your feet are dry to begin with, the lotion lies only on the surface and does not improve the texture of the feet.

As an added treat, soak your feet in some warm water and 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar or Epsom salts for about 15 minutes. Rinse well. And put lotion on them immediately, rubbing in well before you put socks on your feet. The apple cider vinegar and Epsom salts penetrates the skin that may have become resistant to your lotions, making it easier for the lotions to seep deep into the skin.

Follow these tips and you will see a TREMENDOUS improvement within days! Keep it up and you will have soft feet before you know it.
